We are excited to share that Lighthouse Research & Advisory has named ClearCo a 2026 Lighthouse Tech Awards winner for Best Frontline-Focused Solution in the Talent Management category.
First and foremost, our team wants to say a huge thank you to Ben Eubanks and everyone at Lighthouse Research. They put real effort into testing modern HR software and HR technology against the real-world challenges companies face every day. We are deeply honored that they saw the heart behind what we built.
For all of us at ClearCo, this award builds on great momentum. Last year, Lighthouse Research recognized us with their award for Best Innovative or Emerging Tech Solution in Talent Management. Moving from an emerging technology award last year to Best Frontline-Focused Solution this year demonstrates how much our platform has grown. We took our core tech capabilities and put them directly into the day to day work of frontline employees, right where HR professionals need the most help with hiring and retaining top talent.
Above all, this award points to a big change happening in HR departments: technology needs to fit the way people actually work, instead of forcing workers to fit rigid software.

Where Work Actually Happens: Why Legacy HR Tech Fails Frontline Teams#
To see why this award means so much to us, you have to look at where work actually happens.
Think about the people who keep businesses running every single day: a nurse moving from room to room in a local clinic, a cook prepping food during a busy morning rush, a warehouse worker starting a 5 a.m. shift, or an HR manager stepping in to cover a retail store floor when an employee calls in sick.
None of these team members spend their shifts sitting at a desk. Most do not have a company laptop, and very few have time during the day to check an email inbox. Yet for decades, standard HR systems, legacy HR platforms, and traditional talent management software were built almost entirely for office workers.
When companies try to use desk-first tools for deskless workers, problems pop up across the entire employee journey:
- Slow Sourcing & Talent Acquisition: Legacy applicant tracking systems force job seekers through long, complicated desktop applications. When a candidate tries to fill out a desktop application on a small phone screen while on the go, it can lead to candidate frustration and drop-off.
- Confusing Onboarding: When a new hire starts, the onboarding process often turns into a stack of paper forms or required computer logins. This process disrupts their first week on the job and instead of connecting with their team or learning their new role, new hires spend precious first days filling out repetitive paperwork.
- Delayed Feedback and Reviews: Busy managers struggle to fill out complex forms on a desktop computer to track employee performances. As a result, feedback gets delayed, rushed, or skipped entirely. Yearly reviews end up feeling like extra paperwork instead of a helpful coaching moment.
- Divided Company Culture & High Turnover: Frontline teams often miss out on regular shout-outs, growth opportunities, and company news. This creates a real gap in the overall work environment. Employees feel disconnected from the rest of the business, which can drive turnover.
This disconnect does not happen because frontline employees care less about doing a good job. It happens because traditional HR software was never built for them. We believe the people doing some of the most important work in our economy should not have to fight their software just to get support, feedback, and opportunities to grow.
What Frontline-First Talent Management Looks Like#
Fixing this problem means changing how solutions support employees and managers during their shifts. Building software for deskless teams is not about squeezing a large computer screen onto a smartphone. It means creating simple, mobile-first platforms that fit real shift work.
1. Meeting Workers Where They Are (Mobile & Text)#
For most frontline workers, their main digital device is the phone in their pocket. Frontline-first software focuses on mobile access and simple text messaging (SMS) so workers never have to deal with tricky login screens.
By simplifying the hiring process with text-to-apply and simple mobile applications, recruiters can turn candidate interest into finished applications in seconds. Once hired, employees can complete pre-boarding forms, check shift updates, and answer quick surveys right from their mobile phones.
When core HR processes fit naturally into the day people already have, administrative stress disappears for both workers and HR leaders. A shift leader can send a quick thank-you note between tasks, and an employee can check feedback on a break without ever needing to find a desktop computer.
2. A Connected Journey That Doesn't Reset#
In high-turnover jobs, employee information often gets lost in separate software tools. A candidate might show huge potential during talent acquisition, but that information disappears as soon as they finish the onboarding process. Performance feedback sits in one spreadsheet, training records sit in another, and applying for a promotion means starting all over again.
ClearCo works as a unified talent platform where recruiting, onboarding, performance, and learning all live in one connected place. An employee’s record, from their first job application to their 90-day check-in and future review cycles, moves right along with them as they grow.
This connected setup gives leaders the clear facts they need to make data driven decisions about promotions and career growth. For a local health clinic, restaurant, or warehouse, this clear picture turns high-turnover jobs into long-term career paths. When frontline workers can see a clear future with a company, they choose to stay.
3. Equal Access to Opportunity#
In the past, regular coaching, helpful employee feedback, and clear career paths usually went to office workers simply because those programs were easier to run on desktop computers. Frontline workers were left to figure out career growth on their own time, mid-shift.
We do not accept that divide. True fairness at work means every single team member, whether they work at corporate headquarters, in a regional hospital, on a factory floor, or in a local store, deserves the exact same access to training, recognition, and career growth.
Connecting the Full Journey: From Applicant to Top Performer#
Creating solutions for frontline teams means looking at how every step of the employee journey builds on the one before it. When candidate info, learning paths, and performance goals live together, both workers and managers benefit at every stage.
Simple Sourcing and Attraction#
Hiring for frontline roles requires speed and ease. Long job application forms with dozens of boxes lead to lost applicants. By using mobile-friendly steps, branded career pages, and automated text messages, recruiting teams can connect with candidates right away, answer questions, and set up interviews before top talent takes another offer.
Easy Pre-boarding and Day-One Readiness#
The time between accepting a job offer and Day 1 is crucial for keeping new hires. Automated welcome steps let new team members sign policies, fill out digital forms, and read about their new role on their phones before ever stepping onto the floor. On their first day, new hires can spend time learning and meeting their team instead of filling out paperwork.
Continuous Feedback and Mobile Learning#
Managing performance should not be limited to once-a-year reviews. Mobile check-ins and peer shout-outs let managers give helpful, real-time feedback on the go. Combined with short mobile learning modules, employees can complete quick safety reviews or skill checks right on their phones to help them in their daily work.
Fair Pay and Clear Growth#
Clear career progression requires an honest link between hard work, reviews, and rewards. By connecting review notes and completed training directly to pay planning, companies can make sure raises and promotions are handed out fairly. This honesty builds real trust between frontline teams and leadership.
Helping Shift Managers and HR Teams Save Time#
Frontline managers face intense daily pressure. They have to hit sales or production goals, fill open shifts, handle customer needs, and onboard new hires—often all at once. Expecting them to navigate complicated, desktop-only software on top of those tasks is a quick path to manager burnout.
By moving HR tasks into simple mobile workflows, software stops being a hassle and starts being a helper. Managers can approve onboarding steps, note quick shift wins, and check team training progress in just a few seconds.
As workplace needs change, HR professionals are looking for solutions that remove busywork without losing the human touch. While new tech like generative AI can quickly draft messages, platforms work best when they quietly handle tasks behind the scenes, summarizing interview notes, reminding managers when check-ins are due, or spotting skill gaps during workforce planning.
When software handles routine coordination, HR leaders win back time to focus on what matters most: building a great company culture, improving retention, and taking care of their people.
Proof That Frontline Design Makes a Difference#
Designing software for real frontline work creates real results. When companies remove extra effort for deskless teams, application rates go up, time-to-fill goes down, and new-hire retention improves.
“Where we really started to see time savings is when we added the recruiting module, because now instead of having to launch and onboard manually, we simply do it all right in ClearCo. And in some cases, we’re even automatically launching background checks and onboarding packets. So it has really removed that manual touch.”
– Mike Scanlon, Senior Manager of People and Culture | King Arthur Baking Company
By bringing applicant tracking, onboarding, learning, and performance into one platform, companies get rid of confusing, separate tools. HR teams lower software costs, field managers spend less time on paperwork, and frontline workers get a supportive, clear experience at work.
Continuing the Mission for Deskless Teams#
In his award announcement, Ben Eubanks said that great HR technology truly understands the people who use it. That standard is what drives our team every single day, and it is why this award means so much to us.
We want to give another big thank you to Lighthouse Research & Advisory for putting frontline workers in the spotlight, to our customers for their partnership and honest feedback, and to every ClearCo team member who keeps frontline teams at the center of what we build.
